Physiotherapy – What is it?

Many people will of heard of it; a significant number of you may have even ‘had it’. But what does physiotherapy actually involve?

Previously, physiotherapy would have been thought of as a ‘passive’ profession, where you come see your local physiotherapist, they listen to you a little bit, write a few things down, and then they’d perform massage, mobilisations or manipulations and you’d walk out feeling battered and bruised, but that’s what you were supposed to feel right?

Wrong! Physiotherapy is so much more. Long gone are the days of the ‘you do it to me’ attitude, with so much research now helping provide us with an ‘evidence informed’ background at our disposal.

Helping restore movement, function and well-being when someone is affected by injury, illness or disability is our aim; empowerment, education, exercise and enjoyment is our game!

And here at JP Physio that’s exactly what you will get. Using our extensive knowledge and experience from a number of years working in the field of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy (or physiotherapy that deals with your muscle, tendon, ligament and joint systems to make it easier to understand!), our physiotherapists can assist you in many different ways to achieve the myriad of goals that our patients often strive for.

Listening to what you have to say, digging a bit deeper for the true nature of your symptoms, wanting to work with you, assist you and ultimately empower you to make the right lifestyle and health choices is what we strive for.

Whether you are suffering problems from your sport or occupation or want to help improve your everyday function, physiotherapy can help you get back on track.
