JP Physio continue with face-to-face Physiotherapy consultations
Physiotherapy appointments are able to continue, even with the increased restrictions imposed by Government for social distancing.
Due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic, we will be continuing to our appointments in accordance with Governmental, Public Health England (PHE) and Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) guidelines to mitigate as much risk as possible for any potential contamination.
We have put in the following measures to ensure the safety of our staff, patients and to public health. If you are considering coming for a face-to-face appointment it is essential you read the following:
Changes to current working practice for booking physiotherapy appointments:
Clinic Capacity/Operating and Cleaning
Appointments will be spaced out during the day to ensure that there is a minimum of 15 minutes between appointments. This is to enable the physiotherapist to have time to correctly disinfect/clean all surfaces within the clinical environment and to change and clean appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) between patients to minimise the risk of cross contamination. This will include, but not limited to, plinths, pillows, chairs, door handles, taps, light switches and floors. This will also allow administration time to
write up all notes taken during the assessment, as well as provide the appropriate rehabilitation program via the Physitrack app sent to all patients with their rehabilitation program.
Couch roll will be used on the couch and pillows. This will be removed following each appointment and replaced with new roll following appropriate sanitisation of the plinth.
All used cleaning equipment and PPE will be disposed off appropriately following Government and Department of Health (DH) advice on appropriate waste management strategies.
There will be NO access to any drinking and toilet facilities during the appointment time.
JP Physio will stagger admittance for appoinments when there is 2 or more physiotherapists working from the clinic, to prevent patient cross over times to further limited potential cross contamination and perform appropriate cleaning.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
JP Physio will operate in full compliance with current Government guidelines on the use of PPE for all face- to-face appointments. Your physiotherapist will be wearing the following PPE at your appointment:
Face mask (Type IIR 3-Ply Surgical Face Mask)
Single use disposable apron
JP Physio will adhere to strict hand washing and hand sanitising protocols which currently shows best evidence for killing any virus contamination. Gloves are available to use if and when the physiotherapist may deem it suitable to utilise.
Patients will be provided with their own PPE during their clinic visit. This will consist of a Type IIR 3-Ply Surgical Face Mask
Your Agreement with JP Physio:
JP Physio has tried to minimise the potential risk of our physiotherapist and patients contracting COVID- 19. However, if it is mutually agreed for you to attend a face-to-face appointment, please be aware that there is no current clear way that we can completely eliminate the risk of you contracting COVID-19.
If either you or any other individual of your household is in one of the higher risk groups including, but not exclusively, those who are immunosuppressed, those with underlying heart or lung conditions or and those over the age of 70, then JP Physio will be required to perform an individualised risk assessment to be able to offer a face-to-face appointment as per Government guidelines.

Please DO NOT attend an agreed face-to-face appointment if either you or one of your household has been ill in the past 14 days, including, but not exclusively, the following symptoms: high temperature or fever (over 37.5 degrees), a new continuous cough or new loss or change to your sense of smell of taste.
What to expect when you come into the Clinic:
If it has been agreed for you to attend a face-to-face appointment with your physiotherapist, we ask you to adhere to the following rules. JP Physio withholds the right to terminate your appointment if you do not adhere to these rules and you will still be liable for the full cost of the session:
Please complete all forms you will be sent electronically in your confirmation email PRIOR to attending your face-to-face appointment.
Please complete and return the COVID-19 pre-screening questionnaire the DAY of your appointment which will have been sent out via the confirmation email.
On the day/time of your appointment, please DO NOT turn up early as we will have no waiting area available. Please wait in your car or in the car park (maintaining social distancing guidelines) and call the JP Physio mobile number or press the JP Physio call buzzer. Your physiotherapist will then meet you at the front door.
At the front door you will be provided with your PPE for the session, which will include a Type IIR 3- ply Surgical Mask. You must don this PPE immediately. No personal face coverings or previously used face masks will be allowed.
At the front door your physiotherapist will perform an Infrared Thermometer check to assess your temperature. If this is positive (greater than 37.5 degrees), you will be asked to wait 5 minutes prior to another reading being taken. If this is again greater than 37.5 degrees your appointment will be cancelled and your physiotherapist will inform you of the next steps to take. If the reading is negative (37.5 or below), your appointment can proceed.
Doors will be left open in the corridor and of the consultation room. This is to help with air circulation to further try to prevent air contamination. If there is a need to open/close a door, your physiotherapist will do so again to further minimise risk of potential contamination.
You will be asked to wash your hands immediately on arrival in the consultation room.
Your physiotherapist will then perform the same action. Social distancing will be maintained during any discussions you may have with your physiotherapist, as per Government guidelines.
If it is deemed necessary for your physiotherapist to break social distancing (less than 2 metres) for objective assessment or treatment, your physiotherapist will communicate this with you, will require your consent to do so and will hand sanitise before touching you.
Once your appointment is over, your physiotherapist will accompany you to the front door to let you out. You will be asked to keep your Type IIR 3-Ply Surgical Mask in place until you have exited the building.
All payments will be contactless card payments using our iZettle card reader at the time of the appointment. Payment may also be made via BACS or payment link AFTER LEAVING the clinic. If you are a private medical insurance patient nothing changes, however any excesses that may be required to be paid will be via BACS or payment link.
All correspondence, such as rehab programs etc, will be sent electronically AFTER your appointment during the physiotherapist’s administration time.
